Recipe: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hari Raya is definitely around the corner and here i am surrounded by the sweet sweet aroma of beloved cookies in the oven and a cup of iced Tenom coffee. yep, heavenly combination and baking time it is!

there have been a number of people requesting the recipe of this cookie i've been making for as long as i remember. i memorise every step and every quantity. that's how vivid i am into this cookie

I would call this, Meow's Famos Amos...or to what i recently invented; Biskut Tai Lalat dan Serpihan Kayu~

Recipe:
- 250g butter *i used Buttercup
- 1 cup of brown sugar *sometimes ½ sugar and ½ brown sugar
- 1 egg *any size is fine
- a tea spoon of vanilla extract
- 1¼ cup of flour
- 1¼ cup of corn flour
- a tea spoon of baking powder
- a tea spoon of soda bicarbonate
- 1 cup of oatmeal
- a pinch of salt
- 1 cup of chocolate chips *the higher the quality the better! melts in mouth nyummm
- ½ cup of roasted almond nibs *i sometimes add some peanuts to add more fragrance and crunch. the idea is, the more the better!

The way-way(cara-caranya):
1. preheat oven at 170°c
2. sift flour, corn flour, baking powder, soda bicarbonate and salt together and put it aside
3. beat butter and sugar until creamy. then add egg and vanilla extract. continue beating for 3-4 minutes. then. gradually add the sifted flour and oat
4. add choc chips and roasted nuts then mix well with a spatula
5. scoop a tea spoon of the dough and put an inch apart on baking tray. make it rough, make it naughty, avoid perfections! just make sure not to make them too big nor too small
6. bake until golden at 170°c for 20 minutes *i usually leave them in the fridge for 15-20 minutes before baking
7. Take out of the oven and leave to harden for a minute before transferring to a wire cooling rack. These are great warm, and they also store well, if they don't all get eaten straight away!

tadaaaaa~ dabommmbom cookies that will make you eat non-stop. for real! positive responses so far. the hypnotised, time stopping expressions from people's faces(it's just my cute face actually lol) while eating these are simply mesmerising and comforting for me.

this recipe can fill this whole jar, as long as you dont fill them inside you

i need to continue baking since i have some last minute orders. despite being tired from baking, i made every single pieces with my whole heart knowing the satisfaction from eating these Biskut Tai Lalat dan Serpihan Kayu. haha! so far the most unattractive name for selling cookies.

PS: my only tips for first-timer's baker: watch and learn before doing.

i spent my childhood watching mom and sisters baking. i am also a big fan of cooking channels and the chefs especially Jamie Oliver and Ching-He Huang and Gordon Ramsay and Michael Smith and Anna Olsen and Razif Hashim and Sherson Lian and blablabla and they are not all bakers lol

my point is, it is better to get proper guidance to jot tips and tricks before igniting that just-do-it spirit then burning your kitchen and screaming madly towards you neighbour fireeeeee fireeee!

well,  how hard can baking be....it will only get super easy over time then baking cookies is a piece of cake. no no no...cookies is not a piece of cake. cookies are pieces of cakes and buns and skittles and..oh, skittlessss nomnomnommmm

that's all now, ciao!
