Trick-or-treat for UNICEF: Halloween fundraiser using a donation QR code

picture of a guy in Halloween costume holding QR code

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Halloween? Is it carving pumpkins? Or wearing creepy costumes? For most people, there’s one answer: trick-or-treat.

Kids and kids-at-heart knock on the doors of households with their baskets prepared to receive candies, chocolates, and other sweets from house owners.

But did you know that what seems to be a lighthearted and fun activity can help those in need?

UNICEF has been trick-or-treating to raise funds for underprivileged children worldwide; within that time, they have collected a sum of $195 million.

This year, the trick-or-treat for a cause has gone digital with a donation QR code that leads people to UNICEF’s website, where they can send their donations.

This innovation facilitates a contactless way to donate, which is essential in a post-pandemic society.

Aside from that, this is also a more convenient option since people can donate through their digital wallets.

You can easily create a QR code for your fundraising activities with a QR code generator online tool.

How to create a donation QR code

Before creating the QR code, you must create a donation campaign through fundraiser platforms such as GoFundMe or Donation Point Go. After that, copy its link.

Once you’re through with that, follow these steps to create a donation QR code for free:

1. Go to the best QR code generator.

2. Select the URL option.

3. Paste your fundraiser link.

4. Click Generate QR code. Your QR code should appear shortly.

5. Customize your QR code’s design. You can change its colors and add logos to it.

6. Scan your QR code with your smartphone to check if it works.

7. Download your QR code.

You can then print your QR code on flyers or brochures or add it to digital banners you’ll post online.

Advantages of using a donation QR code

Cashless

People no longer need to have cash in their wallets to donate. By scanning the QR code, they can contribute to the fundraiser through mobile banking apps or digital wallets.

This innovation also promotes a faster way to donate. You won’t have to go to the bank or money transfer centers. All it takes is one quick smartphone scan.

Wider reach

QR codes are flexible. Whether they’re on printed materials or digital content, people can still scan and access their embedded content.

This allows you to take your trick-or-treat fundraiser to online platforms, especially on social media, since many people scroll through Facebook or Twitter.

Secure

QR codes are entirely safe. When you scan it, you will only land on a single page. If you go on your PC browser, chances are you’ll find many annoying pop-up ads.

Other uses of QR codes for Halloween

Check out these other creative uses of QR codes for Halloween:

Party invitations

Handing out printed invitations to your Halloween party is both tiring and pricey. Use QR codes instead for a digital party invite. Guests need only scan them to find the event details.

Aside from convenience, this is also a sustainable alternative since you can save paper.

Costumes

If you want to wear a one-of-a-kind costume, you can dress up as a QR code for Halloween.

Once you’re in your QR code getup, tell people to scan your QR code to see a digital version of your costume. You can also embed a creepy video or a spooky audio clip.

Promote food business

If you plan to sell sweets and pastries as Halloween treats, you can use QR codes to promote them. Create a QR code that will lead scanners to your online store or social media pages.

Donation QR code: making Halloween meaningful

Trick-or-treating used to be for sweet treats, but now, it’s also for fundraisers that aim to help those in need. And with QR codes, people can easily send donations—one scan is all it takes.

To guarantee the quality and efficiency of your donation QR code, choose QRTIGER. This online software is your one-stop QR code shop.

Easy Recipe - Potato Salad with Egg

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes
  • Egg - 1 pieces
  • Mayonnaise - 1-2 tablespoons (as much as needed)
  • Salt - 1-2 teaspoons to taste
  • Garlic Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh Parsley (Optional)
  • Spring Onions (Optional)

Direction:

  1. Clean some potatoes and dice it. You can also peel the skin ahead. But in the video below I showed I was using a smaller type of potato and intended to keep the skin on. So I just put it right away in the water
  2. Boil desired amount of potatoes for 15 minutes. You can also put the egg into the pot but put it at your own risk because eggs tend to break and cause a mess in the water. I did this anyway because I made sure to keep the heat low and used a fresh egg
  3. Take out the egg after 10 minutes and run it in a cold water and dice it smaller
  4. After 15 minutes, stain the potatoes and you can choose to either keep the skin or not. Some says the skin is the most nutritious part of the potato but for the beauty and clean look of my videos, I decided to just peel it anyway
  5. Then cut the potatoes into smaller pieces if it was not diced before, and put in the egg, some chopped parsley, chopped spring onions, and the rest of the ingredients stated above.
  6. DONE! Now eat. easy.

  4. Prepare the batter by mixing 1 cup of flour with salt, black pepper and turmeric then ad 1 cup of water slowly. In the video below, I only used half cup of flour and half cup of water. It all depends on how much eggs you have to avoid wastes.
  5. In another bowl, put some flour as the first coat for the egg.
  6. So just coat the egg with only flour, then put the coated flour in the wet batter
  7. Prepare the oil and fry the battered eggs until golden and crispy
  8. Put the cooked eggs on a rack to let the oil sip out and wallah....eat while it's warm!

  • 1 cup Vegetable Oil
  • Salt
  • Garlic (powder or minced)

Instructions:

  1. Separate the egg yolk
